Product/model name: MW1 (MEGA WATT) Vintage GHYCZY Lamp (source GHYCZY)
This signature Brutalist lamp was designed by Peter Ghyczy (1940 - † 2022) in 1980, and has remained a one-of a kind GHYCZY product - as a very limited number of these were produced. It features a hinged lampshade made of rectangular brass panels with an aged finish. The lampshade functions as an ergonomic reflector – changing the direction of the light.
The lampshade remains the centrepiece of the design, as it allows its user to modify and adjust the two panels according to their own preferences. The base of the lamp features an casted onto the surface logo of GHYCZY. The base also holds two stainless steel light-weight rods, which support the industrial-style lampshade.
The table lamp version is currently on display at the newly opened GHYCZY showroom in the centre of Amsterdam, at Apt.529 on Prinsengracht n. 529.
